Liquid Sunday and Monday nights
For summer term 2018 we are meeting every Sunday evening at Jack’s flat for dinner, discussion and digging into the bible. This is a great way for us to grow together as a community and get to know each other. This provides a wonderful opportunity to pray for one another with weeks that have been and weeks to come, particularly given the exam season. At the moment we are studying the book of Daniel and looking at who God is and how He calls us to live counter-culturally.
On Monday nights we are providing opportunities to meet together socially doing a broad spectrum of activities, including bowling, film nights and visiting an aqua park. Please contact the team for further details about any Liquid events.
Currently these include social and teaching weekends away, Soul Survivor and our weeklong Summer Wave event (please see below for more information about The Wave). The team are always looking at how to expand what we can offer and there are a number of ideas brewing for coming academic years, for example looking for opportunities to get involved with community outreach in other areas of the country.
The Wave is an evangelistic outreach event designed to reach out into and serve our community in practical ways. During the year this usually involves redecorating, gardening, etc. The team meets every other Saturday at St Stephen’s church to pray and discuss what is going to be done before going out in different groups to serve.
There is also a week long summer event where both adults and youth are encouraged to get involved in serving the community. This can be as part of the normal work teams, decorating or gardening etc but also includes helping in the multitude of other jobs that the week offers. The week kicks off with a large church service in a tent on Lion Green. Throughout the week there is more community service, Holiday Club, a cafe, prayer ministry and other events held in the tent that may include gigs, comedy shows and a family fun day. See our events page for the next big Wave event and this link for pictures of these two events:
We have been working in schools in the local area for quite some time now. Our work includes these schools; Woolmer Hill, Royal School and Bohunt, where we are involved in the following activities:
- R.E. lessons
- Confirmation lessons
- Lunch clubs
We also do assemblies/occasional RE lessons at Shottermill Junior and Infant schools.
Please continue to pray for us that God will bless the work we are doing and young people will come to know him through our efforts.
