St Stephen’s is a friendly, Jesus centred church in Surrey that is looking to appoint a new parish priest. We know that God is calling someone who can take us on the next exciting stage of our journey and help us reach out further into our community. We are looking for someone to help us grow in faith and love for our community and our world.
We are looking for:
- An enabling and collaborative experienced leader
- A champion for work with children and young people
- A dynamic and passionate preacher and leader
- Someone who is rooted and committed to the parish community
- A discipler who encourages prayer, spirituality and outreach to others
- An established vibrant one-church parish
- A dedicated and supportive staff team
- A congregation with extensive lay and ordained involvement in church life
- A range of worship styles from formal to charismatic
- Genuine care and support for our incumbent and family

It was announced at both services this morning that I will be leaving St Stephen’s to become the Mission Adviser for the Guildford Diocese.
My last Sunday will be 18th March 2018. And in due course, Debs, Jacob, Joel and I will be moving to Aldershot to a house provided by her parish.
It has been a real privilege to serve St Stephen’s and be your Vicar. We have a fantastic team and the church will be in good hands during the Interregnum.
It is going to be a real wrench to leave St Stephen’s, but I am excited about this new role. The role will involve mentoring clergy in the diocese and assisting parishes with strategy and in the implementation of the diocesan vision of Transforming Church, Transforming Lives.
Thank you for being such a wonderful church family and I know I can count on your continued prayers and support of the wardens and staff in this time of transition. God has called me and so I know that he will also call the right person to continue the work. It is his church and he is faithful.
Note from the wardens February 2018:
Many of you will have heard us talking in church the other Sunday about what will happen in St Stephen’s after Danny has left, both in terms of how we shall replace him and also how we shall continue to manage the church until we have a new vicar. The attached slides were shown in the services and explain both of these issues in more detail.
The PCC has met with the Archdeacon, who is also the patron of our church. The slides give the timetable of events after this Sunday and we would be grateful for your prayers for the PCC, both for this meeting and in the coming months. We shall communicate with you regularly, both in the services at church and by e mail to keep you up to date with our progress. In the meantime, please be assured that, while we aim to have as short a Vacancy period as possible, we have everything in place to ensure that the church and its work continue to run smoothly after Danny has left.
