Giving Time and Talents

“Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.”
Romans 12: 4 – 5

Our Vision and Purpose as a church is summed up in our St Stephen’s purpose statement:
“Honouring God, following the example of Jesus and sharing his love in our community.”

We do this by seeking to grow deeper in the 3 dimensions that are the essential aspects of a healthy church and of an individual disciple. All this is underpinned by prayer: UP: Loving and serving God;  IN: Loving and serving our church family and those close to us; OUT: Loving and serving our neighbour, witnessing, seeking justice, caring for creation.

We ALL have a vital part to play in achieving this purpose and building for growth. To this end, ‘Encouraging Everyone to be included and involved’ is one of our core values. That is, every person counts (from the youngest to the oldest) and shares in the work of the local church and in Christ’s ministry and mission in the world.

At St Stephen’s we seek to provide an environment in which each person can be nurtured and can flourish in their faith, using their God given gifts, talents and time in his service – in and outside of the church – so that we can become the people that God had created us uniquely to be. “It’s not the church of God that has a mission in the world, but the God of mission who has a church in the world.”  (Mission Shaped Church Report)

As a helpful aid to identifying your gifts we would encourage you to fill out our on-line Time and Talents form.  Please also see our current list of Volunteer VacanciesVolunteering is a great way to get involved, meet new people and serve the church.
Please do not be reluctant to volunteer for fear you are taking on a job for life! Every role in the church is open to regular review so that none of us end up staying too long in a position or beyond the time when we should consider a new challenge. There are seasons for all things.

If you would like to meet to discuss any aspects of your service and ministry, please contact the office.
