Freerunners takes place every week in term time during the 10.45 service. (On Half Term Sundays sessions are social, rather than teaching, with games, singing and DVDs).
As a team, we are committed to helping the children explore and grow in their faith and spirituality. Our current teaching material is from Scripture Union’s Light series and sessions include praise and worship, prayer, large and small group discussion, drama, craft and games.
Once or twice a year, to broaden the children’s understanding of God at work in the world and of loving our neighbour, we hold a “Special” session which focuses on God’s mandate to help people living in poverty. Past sessions have been about access to clean water and sanitation, using Samaritan’s Purse “Turn on the Tap” resources; and hunger, based on Tearfund’s harvest and lent resources etc
At Christmas and Easter, we hold annual morning events for children from church families and the wider community. These lively events incorporate games, craft, singing, puppets, drama, around a Bible presentation and reflection with plenty of seasonal refreshments! At the start of the Summer Holidays we are involved in an annual Holiday Club, as part of “The Wave” community outreach event, working alongside other local churches. Some recent photographs can be seen here. Details of this year’s Holiday Club can be found in the following link: Mission Rescue.
